Janice Lynn Barnett of Crawfordsville, more affectionately known as Janni, passed away on Sept. 5, 2024, at Franciscan Hospital of Lafayette. She was 72.
Janni was born March 14, 1952, at Crawfordsville, to Marion “Runt” Maxwell and Phylis Manning Maxwell. She graduated from Darlington High School. Janni retired from Pace Dairy Foods. She married Monty Barnett. He preceded her in death July 14, 2016.
Janni was an avid Cubs fan and loved to watch IU Basketball. She found joy in her grandkids and great grandkids, had the gift of gab and was the garage sale Queen. Never meeting a stranger, Janni will be missed by many.
Surviving family includes: sons, Mike (Brookanna) Pickett and Kevin “Mitch” (Retha) Maxwell; brothers, Dan (Denise) Maxwell, John (Jill) Maxwell and Mark (Sandy Field) Maxwell; sister Mellisa “Missy” Green; grandchildren, Brody Pickett, Kevin Maxwell Jr., Brianna Maxwell, Sam Maxwell, Michaiah Maxwell, Kaitlyn Maxwell, Maelee Maxwell and Riker Maxwell; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Janni was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation for Janni Barnett will be at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave., on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Service will follow at 1 p.m. with burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Darlington.
