Janice I. Ragsdale, 89, of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at the Lane House Nursing Home, after a three-month stay.

She was born Sept. 12, 1934, at Crawfordsville, to Jessie Harper.

She is survived by sister, Linda (John) Astin.

She was preceded in death by mother Jessie Harper McManomy and husband Allen Ragsdale

Janice married Allen L. Ragsdale on Feb. 4, 1956. Together they raised three children, Randy (Becky) Ragsdale of Westfield, Vivian (Kevin) Fischer of Crawfordsville and Tony (Jessie) Ragsdale of Pasadena, Texas. They had 65 years together.

Janice worked at Culver Hospital and retired in 1983. She and Allen made the big move to the Houston, Texas area and started their business. They returned to Indiana in 2002.

She always enjoyed bowling for many, many years. Always enjoying the girls when they traveled to many locations for state tournaments. The best one was in Hawaii. Janice was a member of the Eagles and American Legion. During her 60-year membership at the Eagles she held multiple offices, including president.

Janice and Allen enjoyed golfing together­— until Allen showed her up and she stopped playing.

Surviving family includes: sister Linda (John) Astin; children, Randy (Becky) Ragsdale, Vivian (Kevin) Fischer and Tony (Jessie) Ragsdale; grandchildren, Andrew (Aman) Ragsdale, Melissa (Josh) Patton, Brian (Sara) Howard, Sara (Tristen) Chapman, Samantha Parker, Scott (Kelly) Ragsdale, Patrick (Taryn) Ragsdale and Makade Fischer; and great-great-grandchildren, Riley and Kennady Sanders, Hazel Howard, Bentley, Keelie and Parker Chapman, Addison Smith, Logan and Dylan Ragsdale, Kamryn, Reid and Luke Ragsdale.

A graveside service will be conducted at Willhite Cemetery in Wingate at a later date.
