Annual Darlington Fish Fry Festival opens today

DARLINGTON — The annual Darlington Fish Fry Festival begins today at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremony at the Old School Park.

Fish and other food items, including tenderloins, pulled pork, hot dogs, fries, baked beans, slaw, desserts and drinks, will be served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The 2024 Miss Darlington Queens will be introduced at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Vendors will be open, chicken drop tickets will be on sale, and a silent auction begins. There also will be an antique tractor show both days. A beer garden will be open 5-11 p.m. Friday.

On stage, Friday will be Mae + Tae from 6-8 p.m. and Rumbletown Bluegrass Band (The Denman Family) from 8-10 p.m. Festival-goers should bring a lawn chair or blanket.

On Saturday, vendors will open at 8 a.m. as well as several town-wide yard sales. Breakfast is sponsored by Indiana Municipal Power Agency.

Registration for the baby contest, Little Miss and Mister Darlington will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Food will be served from noon until 8 p.m.

The Kids Afternoon at the Park begins at 12:30 p.m. and includes a petting zoo, popcorn, hula hoop contest, ice cream sponsored by Dari-Licious and a book giveaway sponsored by Penguin Random House. There also will be a foam party from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

At 4 p.m. there will be cornhole tournament and the beer garden will be open 4-11 p.m.

Saturday’s entertainment includes Mae + Tae from 5-7 p.m. and Street Legal from 7-10 p.m. Fireworks will be launched at 10 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
