New Ross plans Community Day

NEW ROSS — The annual Walnut Township Community Day is set for Saturday in New Ross.

This year’s theme is “The Art of Fun” and includes a Lego display, car show, entertainment, food and games. The event is sponsored by the Walnut Township Community Organization.

The day will begin with breakfast served from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the New Ross Christian Church. Yard sales will open at 8 a.m. all over town.

Check-in for the “WTCO Lego Challenge” is 9-11 a.m. at the Methodist Church. Pre-registration is required.

Lunch will be served 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. by the He Men at New Ross Fire Station.

Car show registration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Music by “Mobile DJ” will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. at the car show. Judging begins at 2:30 p.m. and awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m.

The Lego display at the Methodist church will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There also will be an area to experiment and build with Legos.

Ivan Brown will provide music on the main stage from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration for the annual pie baking contest sponsored by the New Ross Conservation Club begins at 1 p.m. Judging takes place at 1:30 p.m. on the main stage and pies will be auctioned at 2 p.m.

Color run registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at Leland Cornett Park, sponsored by the Walnut Elementary PTO. The run takes place 2-3:30 p.m. at the park.

A parade with the theme “The Art of Fun” will begin at 4 p.m.

Dinner will be served 5-8 p.m. by the He Men at the fire station.

Children’s games will be available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Southmont High School Band. There also will be free face painting from 6-8 p.m.

Bingo takes place 6-9 p.m. and the 50/50 drawing will be at 8 p.m.
