Results from the July 6 Tox-a-Way Day were released Monday at the Montgomery County Solid Waste meeting.

Board administrator Lori Dossett said the event was the largest since the county took over solid waste administration four years ago.

“We had steady flow of 525 vehicles this year which is by the far the most we have ever had,” Dossett said. “We totaled 33 tons of waste which also is a record for us.”

The totals included 79 appliances totaling 10,205 pounds. A total of 409 tires weighing 25,370 pounds were discarded.

There were 252 electronic pieces weighing 10,614 pounds thrown away.

A total of 19,864 pounds of household hazardous waste items were also collected.

The event was moved to Crawfordsville High School and MCSW members decided to ask the high school to host the event next year. Members believe the more central location was a major component to the success of this year’s event.
