Commissioners approve Purple Heart Parkway change order

Montgomery County Commissioners approved a change order Monday for the Purple Heart Parkway project.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is requiring approaches to be concrete and not gravel. The cost of the change will be $217,135 and will be split 50/50 with the city.

Montgomery County Administrator Tom Klein reported the change is not as significant as it appears. He is aware of another change coming that will result in a $40,000 credit. Klein also said the original estimate had additional funds for potential change orders.

Commissioners approved a lane closure on Sept. 24 along Glenway Drive from houses located from 1089 to 1129 for a block party.

Cale Stephens of the county highway department presented results for a traffic study on C.R. 150 South between S.R. 47 South and C.R. 200W. Stephens recommended a 45-mph speed limit from C.R. 200W to S.R. 47 South.

A stop sign to be located at the intersection of Ladoga Road and the new Purple Heart Parkway extension from U.S. 231 South was approved.
