Southmont unveils sports app

Posted

Southmont fans have a new way to access Mountie sports information. Athletic Director Aaron Charles rolled out the school’s new sports app to be used on devices. Mountie fans now have a trove of information in the palm of their hands.

Charles said the idea of a school sports app is nothing new. After looking at the product, he decided it would make life easier for Southmont junior high and high school fans.

“I was always answering questions about where to find some of our information because we were spread out on a lot of websites,” Charles said. “The app gives us a one-stop destination to find information.”

Information such as a daily combined event schedule is made available. It has all the practices and games listed chronologically.

Each team has its’ own page and can easily be found under the team’s button.

The calendar button directs users to the comprehensive daily schedule. From that page you can add any event directly to your device’s calendar.

Want contact information for any athletic staff member? It is all there with one quick finger tap.

Fans can buy tickets to events on the app.

The app is also connected to each team’s X account and the team’s X posts will be available as the user scrolls down on the home page.

Mountie sports stories published in the local newspaper can be found as well.

Under the resource button the user can find his way to several sports sites such as the IHSAA website and the popular John Harrell’s Indiana sports website.

The app even has a button to purchase Mountie fan gear.

“I hope people will use the app and find it useful,” Charles said. “We will be adding more features and fine tuning the app as we go along. But we are getting good reviews from our fans.”

The free app can be downloaded from the App Store.
