Nona Marie Turner (nee Smith) of Clinton, Indiana, was born July 27, 1949, at Crawfordsville, to Robert L. Smith Sr. and Ilenia Wade. She passed away May 25, 2024, at Terre Haute, at the age of 74. Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving family members include: daughters, Michelle (Martin) Ruiz, Lumberton, Texas, and Angela Witherly, Treasure Island, Florida; granddaughter Kaily Osborne; grandsons, Joseph (Breanna) Ruiz and Andrew (Kira) Ruiz; and six great-grandchildren.
Nona graduated in 1967 from Crawfordsville High School. She later took night classes at Purdue University. She was a dedicated case worker at the Montgomery County Welfare Department during the 1970s and early 1980s, providing assistance and support to those in need. She later pursued a career in real estate, serving as a Realtor in Montgomery County for several years.
Outside of her professional life, Nona found joy in oil painting, creating beautiful works of art, and generously giving her time to volunteer at Culver Union Hospital.
Nona will be remembered for her compassion and creativity. She leaves behind cherished memories with her loved ones.
Cremation will be handled by Debaun Funeral Homes in Clinton.
