Howard Robert Harris Jr., 55, of Greenwood and formerly of Roachdale, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Greenwood Healthcare Center in Greenwood.
Howard was born in Highland Park, Illinois, to Howard R. Harris Sr. and Roberta Lee (Van Ness) Harris.
Howard was a member of Roachdale Christian Church. He loved music and movies, especially documentaries. He enjoyed classic cars and watching shows on how to rebuild them. He also enjoyed computers, watching wrestling and woodworking. He had made many different things for family.
He and his son, Howard R. Harris III, enjoyed many walks around town talking about anything that came to mind. He was a great teacher to his son teaching him about computers, cars, and how to be able to work on things himself. He was a faithful, loving man who loved his son, and grandchildren immensely. He was very humorous, loved telling jokes. He didn’t know a stranger and was an inspiration to all he encountered.
He is survived by his son, Howard Robert Harris III; four grandchildren, Mason, Howard IV, Aimee and Richard; sister Linda Lou Harris; and father Howard Robert Harris Sr.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Lee Harris; and his maternal grandparents, Ray and Mae VanNess.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 17 at the Roachdale Christian Church, 1 N. Walnut St., Roachdale, with Pastor Nate Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Dunlap Cemetery at Dennison, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
