William Joseph Welliever was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Aug. 4, 2024.

Born July 19, 1940, to Ralph and Delta Welliever, Bill later married the love of his life, Lana Fulford, who survives. Bill and Lana were married for 63 years. Their children, Yancie (Rhonda) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Kalay (Mark) Stevens of Kissimmee, Florida survive.

Also surviving are brothers, Dan (Judy) and John Welliever. Surviving grandchildren include Whitney (Kaleb Bowman), Corey (Brittany Welliever), Lexi (Michael Russell), Olivia (Jake Zurawski) and Maggie (Blair Malench). Great-grandchildren are Julia, Will, Quin and Ames Russell: Charlie, Anna and Henry Malench; Lennon Zurawski and a great-granddaughter is due this October.

A son, Brett Welliever, is deceased.

Bill graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1958 and was a great wrestler, as were his brothers and sons. All of the Welliever men were inducted into the IHSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame as a family.

Bill worked 36 years of night shift at the Lafayette Alcoa facility to provide for his family. He was an avid Indiana Hoosier and Crawfordsville Athenian fan. He was a member of the American Legion, having served in the Navy for four years and the National Guard for two years.

Bill was also a member of the Eagles and was a scratch golfer who always enjoyed playing with his “Muni” buddies. Bill accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on Sept. 23, 2009 and began his walk with Christ at Rock Point Church and later at Crossway Covenant Church in New Market.

Pastors Terry Thompson and Bill Pike will officiate services at Burkhart Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 7, starting with a visitation at 11 a.m. and services at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
