VA offers foster care program

Posted

Wow, has it been hot the last couple of weeks! But it looks like we may be getting some reprieve. This past month, we had 54 phone calls from veterans and 17 veterans visit my office. We also took seven veterans to their appointments at the clinics and hospital.

We are looking for a few people who would be willing to do VA Medical Foster Care for veterans. This is for veterans who don’t want to go to a nursing home. This does come with payment for the people whose home we use. This program gives veterans an option to remain in a family setting. The VA care comes to the home.

To be eligible, participants must own or rent the home and have at least three bedrooms. The veteran needs to receive 70% of the claim. The veteran could be receiving aid and attendance.

To learn more, call 765-361-4133.

I will be at the American Legion Post 72 in Crawfordsville from 1-4 July 11 and at the VFW Post 1431 from 1-4 p.m. July 18.

Please note I will be on vacation the week of July 2-5 and will return on July 8.

Also if you don’t have a will (and everyone needs a will), contact attorney Dan Taylor at 765-361-9680. He assists all veterans for free (that is an $800 value) and he also will give a discount to Nucor employees.

Frito-Lay is still hiring in Frankfort. Full-time positions along with 401K, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, retirement  weekly pay and paid holidays. Visit online at www.FritolayEmployment.com or text JOBS to 221122.

Please don’t forget the 4th of July and enjoy.
