North competes at Maverick Stampede

North Montgomery cross country teams competed Saturday at the Maverick Stampede at McCutcheon High School.

The Chargers had three boys finish in the top 20 led by Jack Rogers who finished 17th with a time of 18:53.

In the girls’ race, Katelyn Woolwine earned an 18th place finish with a personal best of 24:20. Sarah Hopper finished 19th with a personal best time of 24:35.

Charger coach Tim Lueking is pleased to see his team continue to improve their times

Other Chargers that completed the race with season bests were Blake Welch, Sam Jones, Beth Brooks and Kendra McClamroch.

“I am very happy with the continued progress of our runners,” Lueking said. “The McCutcheon course is one of the toughest we run on all season and we performed extremely well.

 

SOCCER

Little Giants open with win

The Wabash College soccer team opened its season with a 2-1 win at Principia on Monday. Alfredo Compos scored the winning goal in the 88th minute.

The Little Giant defense allowed only five shots on goal and Wabash goalkeeper Fernando Ramos recorded three saves.

Wabash entertains Rose Hulman for their home opener at 5 p.m. today.

 

GOLF

Wabash places 11th at Invite

Wabash opened the season Saturday at the Transylvania Fall Golf Invitational, placing 11th out of 19 teams.

Little Giant Sean Bledsoe fired a three-under-par 141 and was named to the all-tourney team.

Wabash will next compete Sept. 20-21 at the Midwest Region Classic in Kansasville, Wisc.
