Wabash Golf earns honors

The 2023-24 Wabash College golf team received President’s Special Recognition as an Outstanding Team Academic Award recipient from the Golf Coaches Association of America. Recent graduates Miles Patterson and Brayden Weiss earned NCAA DIII Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recognition last week from the GCAA.

The Wabash team received its President’s Special Recognition after posting a team grade-point average above 3.5. The GCAA honored 13 NCAA Division III men’s golf teams, including the Little Giants’ squad, with team GPAs above 3.5. An additional 30 teams earned Outstanding Team Academic Award honors with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Patterson and Weiss earned Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors from the GCAA after meeting the organization’s requirements as a sophomore, junior, or senior who participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s matches with a season stroke average under 79.0 and a cumulative career grade-point average of at least 3.2. Patterson, an economics major and mathematics minor, averaged 75.06 strokes per 18 holes. Weiss, a political science major and history minor, broke the Wabash single-season stroke average mark with 73.1 strokes per 18 holes this season. Weiss also broke the Little Giants’ career stroke average record with a 74.69 average over 70 rounds in four years, eclipsing the mark of 77.48 strokes set by Jordan Vice from 2005-2009.
