Tri-West defeats Athenians

Tri-West scored early and often Friday against the home standing Athenians by scoring 35 first half points. The final score was 42-0 in favor of Tri-West.

The Bruins rolled up 367 yards which included 274 passing yards.

Tri-West (4-4, 3-3 SAC) used three different quarterbacks in the game which was played with a running clock in the second half. The Bruin quarterbacks combined for 12 of 18 passing and four touchdowns.

Crawfordsville (2-6, 0-5 SAC) travels to Frankfort (0-8, 0-6 SAC) on Friday for a 7 p.m. game. The game will mark the final Sagamore Athletic Conference game between the two longtime rivals. The Athenians and Hotdogs were original members of the conference when it was founded in 1966. Both teams will enter the new Monan Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2025.

 

Mustangs lose to Falcons

Fountain Central lost to Wabash River Conference foe North Vermillion 31-27 on Friday despite a great effort by Mustang quarterback Eli Foxworthy.

Foxworthy ran for 162 yards and threw for 145 yard giving him 307 total yards. The sophomore threw one touchdown and ran the ball for another score.

Fountain Central’s Asher Davis hauled in six passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.

North Vermillion as a team rushed for 217 yards and had 121 yards receiving giving the Falcons 338 total yards. The Falcons’ Andrew Botner rushed for 123 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Fountain Central 3-5 (3-3 WRC) will play Parke Heritage at home Friday.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Mounties win NM Invite

Southmont’s volleyball team defeated North Montgomery and Seeger on their way to claim Saturday’s North Montgomery Invititational championship.

The Mounties beat the Chargers 2-1 before beating Seeger 2-1 in the championship match.

The Chargers and Mounties split the first two games, before Southmont took control in the third and final match.

Against North Montgomery, Southmont was led by freshman Ella Barry who recorded eight kills.

In the championship game, the Mounties again were led by Barry who recorded 13 kills and six aces.

Seeger defeated North Montgomery 2-1 in the consolation game.

Southmont (16-12) will play South Putnam (11-14) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at home in the 2A sectional.

North Montgomery (9-19) faces Delphi (3-26)  at 6 p.m. Thursday in the 2A sectional at Western Boone.
