Peggy Joyce Millar, 92, of Rockville died on Aug. 2, 2024, at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1932, at Judson, Indiana, the daughter of Cyril Lopp and Ancel Osmon Lopp. She married Robert “Bob” Millar on Feb. 9, 1974; he survives her.
Peggy was a 1952 graduate of Marshall High School. Just out of high school she worked two years for attorney, Warren Buchanan as an office assistant. She then began her 42-year career at Parke State Bank in Rockville, moving into bookkeeping and then also served as vice president her last few years before retirement. She was treasurer for the Judson Baptist Church for over 60 years where she faithfully attended and served. She remained bookkeeper at Parke County Feeds for 18 years, up until last year when her health declined. Post retirement, she also enjoyed a small business venture “The Country Christmas Shop” for several years with her close friend Uma Black.
Peggy is survived by her husband Bob Millar of Rockville; daughter Debbie Hanner Swaim (Kevin) of Marshall; grandson Jeremy Swaim (Lori) of Bloomingdale; granddaughter Kristin Leatherman (Blaine) of Greenfield; great-grandchildren, Stormi, Whitney and Cora Swaim and Emalyn, Ashlyn and Wyatt Leatherman.
Other survivors who are special cousins who remained in close relationship include, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Osmon, Jeanne Osmon, Carol Osmon, Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomery, Shirley Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Calloway and brother-in-law Jim Millar.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and first husband Harold Hanner.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 E. High St., Rockville, with the Rev. David Wise officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery east of Marshall.
