Kenneth Joe Spencer, 83, of Crawfordsville, formerly of New Market and Russellville, passed away Sept. 9, 2024.
He was born March 3, 1941, at Greencastle, to the late Cline Maynard and Margaret Jane (Murphy) Spencer.
Kenny graduated from Russellville High School. He spent his life driving semi’s, including the grain trucks for Layne and Myers Elevator as well as helping on farms. After retiring from Sommer Metalcraft, he continued working part-time for Busenbark Lawn Equipment until a couple of months ago. He enjoyed collecting many things, including toy International Harvester tractors, clocks and red wagons. He looked forward to the monthly Smartsburg Music Jam and howling to the dog song.
He is survived by his sons, Joe (Sherri) Spencer and Travis (Veronica) Spencer; brother-in-law Glen Cleek; sister-in-law Norma Jean Gross; nephews, Chris (Michelle) Cleek and Chuck Spencer (Leann); niece Tamara Stumke and Patricia Spencer, mother of Kenny’s boys. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Connie Cleek; brother Charles Spencer; and nephews, Tony Spencer and Jason Stumke.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral service following at 1 p.m., with Pastor Mike Parks officiating, Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Russellville Community Center, 300 N. Harrison St., Russellville. Kenny will be laid to rest in the Hebron Cemetery in Russellville. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family.
