Freddy Hedrick, 83, of rural Crawfordsville passed away at 9:19 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Ben Hur Health and Rehab, Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health the past few years.

He married Malinda Rivers on Sept. 17,1961, in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She preceded him death Dec. 2, 2020.

Fred was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School and a life resident of the area. He was employed 23 by Crawfordsville Schools as the Director of Transportation. He was also a full-time farmer while employed at the school.

Freddy was a man of the land and loved farming, even after retirement he enjoyed helping his son Tony on the farm. He and Malinda were life members of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. In their free time they enjoyed camping around the country. Fred also enjoyed attending farm toy shows and collecting vintage farm toys.

Surviving are: daughter Diana Wilbert of Crawfordsville; daughter-in-law Laura Fry Hedrick of rural Waynetown; grandchildren, Mike Morgan (fiance’ Emily Jarvis), Matt (Tasha) Morgan, Travis (Amber) Wilbert, T.J. Hedrick and Taylor (Abbie) Hedrick; great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Kainen, Cameron, Casen, Madison, Carson, Grayson, Hutson and Ryker; brother William (Mary) Hedrick of West Lafayette; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hedrick of Crawfordsville and Janet Rivers of Waynetown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife Malinda; son Tony; brother Danny Hedrick; son-in-law Glenn Wilbert Jr.; and brother-in-law David Rivers.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 17 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and an hour prior to funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18 at the church. Pastor Warren Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
