Final rodeo of season set for Saturday

Posted

The final competition of the season will take place Saturday at PAC Midwest Rodeo Co., 2350 Indianapolis Road, Crawfordsville.

PAC Midwest Rodeo Co. owners Glen Price, Emmanuel Allbrook and Bobby Cunningham are passionate about the sport of rodeo and have enjoyed putting on this seven-event series in the rodeo’s second year of operation.

“It has been a great pleasure to bring this to the Montgomery County community and introduce so many to the sport of rodeo,” the rodeo owners shared.

Twenty-four buckles will be awarded and more than $3,000 will be added to the purses of the winners. The total payout for the rodeo will be close to $10,000 going to the winners of the events.

Competition events will include mutton busting, steer riding, junior bulls, team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding. For bull riding, there will be a long go and a short go. Top winners of the long go will come back to ride in the short go.

There will be vendors and food vendors on site.

A children’s foot race will take place during intermission with prizes for the winners.  Christi Hubler will give away T-shirts for the rodeo during intermission as well.

Reagan Presley, a nine-year-old trick rider, from Columbus, Indiana, will perform. She is an avid horse rider — competing in barrel racing and trick riding. She has been trick riding and competing in Indiana and Kentucky this summer.

At the end of the rodeo, a live band will be playing until 11 p.m.

Those who plan to attend should bring chairs and/or a blanket. Pop-up canopies are also welcome. Fans and contestants are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.

Admission is $15 for adults (cash only) and children 10 and younger are admitted for free. Gates open at 3 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. The rodeo usually lasts three to three and half hours. Parking is available for free. Handicap parking is located by the ticket booth.
