Charger golfers open with close loss

DANVILLE — The North Montgomery girls’ golf team opened their season in the heat at Danville. The Chargers were narrowly defeated 218 to 217.

Leading the Chargers was Mallory Inskeep, who shot a 47. Marlee Reed recorded a 50, Jazmen Newlin contributed a 60 and Emma Pyle rounded out the team with a 61.

“The team displayed remarkable resilience and teamwork, keeping the match extremely close and competing right down to the final stroke,” Charger coach Bob Ryker said.

The Charger coach complimented his top two finishers after the meet.

“Mallory Inskeep showed exceptional skill and consistency, leading the team with an impressive score of 47,” Ryker said. “Marlee Reed demonstrated great focus and determination, finishing just three strokes behind our top scorer with a solid 50.”

Next for the Chargers will be a Monday trip to Attica’s Harrison Hills to take on Seeger and the Red Ramblers.
