Mountie golfers start strong at Seeger Invite

Posted

ATTICA — The Southmont Ladies Golf team played in the Seeger Invitational Monday and placed third out of 10 schools with a round of 384.

Addison Meadows took off where she left off last year and was the overall individual medalist with a round of 3 over par 75.

“Even with the three over par round Addison would admit she didn’t have her best stuff today,” Mountie Coach Bill Whalen said. “Five of Addison’s bogeys were due to putting woes. She three-putted on all five holes.

“Overall we were very pleased with our scores today,” Whalen said. “Addison Kendricks and Kelsey Thompson both had nice rounds with a 99 and 98, respectively. However both know that they left strokes on the course.”

Kate Myers had to withdraw from the match due to illness which allowed freshman Maggie Gilliland to step in and shot a 114.

Fountain Central only had three golfers participate in the invitational so their score was recorded as incomplete. Mustang scores were Autumn Payne 104, Rya Jackson 118 and Bella Bacon 127.

Southmont will participate in today’s Lafayette Jeff Invitational.
