Heather Shirk, right, is the executive director of the Montgomery County Visitors and Convention Bureau. She spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club on June 5. She spoke about the many activities happening this summer and fall. Crawfordsville is lucky to have two national landmarks — the Lew Wallace Study and the Rotary Jail Museum. In August, racers and fans will prepare for the Ironman National and in October, Luke Menard will headline the Oktoberfest. Also pictured is Tyler Nichols.
Shirk Visits Rotary

Stacy Sommer, left, is the executive director of the Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. She spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club at their noon meeting. The mission of the Chamber is to advance a vibrant business community. There are 390 members of the Chamber. Some of the activities the Chamber provides for the community are a ribbon cutting ceremonies for new businesses, networking events and both state and local legislative events. Jayden Azar, right, a senior at Purdue University, spoke about “Artificial Intelligence” at the Crawfordsville Rotary Club meeting. Azar spent time trying to explain how this was going to be a part of our lives. She pointed out that some jobs such as marketing, social media and entry level data analysis will become obsolete. Kezia Blackwell, a member of the Crawfordsville chapter of Tri Kappa, spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club at their noon meeting. Tri Kappa is an Indiana sorority for women that was started in 1901 .The Crawfordsville chapter was started in 1937. There are 142 active chapters and 94 associate chapters in the state.. Tri Kappa has charity, culture and education as their goal for the community. The local chapter has been a continuous donor to Riley Hospital and their major fundraiser in the community is the Daddy-Daughter Dance.
