William L. Burget, 84, went home to his Lord and Savior, on June 30, 2024, at Avon Park, Florida.
Bill was born Sept. 2, 1939, at Crawfordsville, the son of Donald C. and Fern (Noll) Burget. On July 8, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Diana (Stephens) Burget and she survives.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and attended Arizona State University. He was a member of the 1958 basketball team when they went to the Indiana State Finals. He was selected to play on the Northern Indiana All-Stars Squad Team and was inducted into the Montgomery County Basketball Hall of Fame. He proudly served his country through the Indiana National Guard, 139th Field Artillery Battalion.
Bill retired from CEL&P where he worked for nearly 40 years. He and his wife of 62 years retired to Florida in 2013. He was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Wauchula, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; sister Maxine Rady; several wonderful nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Garry and Jane Metcalf.
His parents, brother Harold Burget and brother-in-law John Rady preceded him in death.
Bill’s family would like to acknowledge Vitas Hospice for their excellent care they provided for both Bill and Diane during this trying time.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July, 8, at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum with a visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Hunt & Son Funeral Home and Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, Florida.
