Janet Sue McClaskey, formerly of Darlington, passed away Monday morning at Morocco, Indiana, at the age of 91.

Mrs. McClaskey was a long-time faithful member of the Congregational Christian Church, where she played piano, was choir director, deaconess, past president of Joi Fellowship, and treasurer of women’s fellowship. She was also active with 4-H, secretary of the PTO, den mother and helped with Sunshine Society. She worked at Pelican Service and for 15 years at the bank in Darlington.

She was born March 4, 1933, south of Darlington, the daughter of Cecil B. Hampton and Freeda Conrad Hampton. She graduated from Darlington High School. She married Richard Wayne McClaskey on Jan. 12, 1952, at the Congregational Christian Church. He passed away May 7, 2017.

Surviving family includes: son Bryan McClaskey (Pam) of Darlington; daughter Brenda Dawson (Jake) of Morocco; five grandchildren, Heather Abney, Staci Clemons, Amber French, Tara Dawson and Jamie McClaskey; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Corey, Mason and Emma; and great-great-grandchild Mac.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Frederick, John and Robert Hampton; and two sisters, Lucille Lang and Maxine Cook.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 6 at the Congregational Christian Church, 101 Academy St., Darlington. Services will begin at noon, led by Pastor Brian Holt. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
