Director of Athletics and Recreation Matt Tanney has announced the addition of Maddie Runyon, athletic trainer, to the sports medicine team at Wabash

College, along with several promotions and title changes for coaches and staff.

Runyon joins the Wabash athletic training staff through the College’s partnership with Hendricks Regional Health. A native of Brownsburg, Runyan received

her bachelor’s degree in  kinesiology in exercise science at Indiana University, and her master’s in athletic training at Franklin College. Runyon worked as a

student manager for the football team at Indiana and most recently served as student trainer at Marian University. She has also worked with the Indy Fuel

Hockey Team, Indy Performance Rehab, Franklin College, and Franklin Community High School from 2022 to 2023.

“I’ve grown up attending events at Wabash,” Runyan said. “My dad and older brother are both alumni, and my younger brother is currently a student at the

College. I’m excited to join the Wabash family and begin serving the community officially.”

Runyon is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and Indiana Athletic Training Association. Runyon was a featured presenter for her master’s

research on Mental Health Characteristics and Disordered Eating Behavior in Collegiate Wrestlers at the 75th NATA Conference in New Orleans in 2024.

Several coaches and administrators also earned title changes effective July 1, including two assistant coaches elevated to associate head coach.

Daniel Del Gallo has been promoted to Associate Head Wrestling Coach by Head Coach Jake Fredricksen. Del Gallo joined the Wabash program as a

volunteer assistant in 2018 before becoming a full-time assistant in 2021. Del Gallo helped Wabash earn top-20 finishes at the past four national championship

tournaments, including a second-place finish at the 2022 NCAA Division III National Tournament.

“Promoting Coach Del Gallo was an easy choice, and something we are very excited about. Coach Del Gallo has been a pivotal part of our success in

competition and on the recruiting front. Being able to elevate him to this position is a huge gain for the Wabash College wrestling program,” said Coach

Fredricksen.

Jordan Niespodziany joined the Wabash baseball coaching staff in 2018 and has been promoted to Associate Head Coach by Head Coach Jake Martin. The

2013 DePauw University graduate helped Wabash earn North Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament appearances in 2019 and 2023 and a tie for

fourth place in the 2024 conference standings.

“I have been fortunate to work alongside Jordan at Wabash for the last six years, Coach Martin said. “He has played a major role in building the program into

a consistent winner. His hard work, dedication to the development of our student-athletes, and passion for the game of baseball has had an immeasurable

impact on the program. I am excited to watch Jordan continue to grow and have a positive impact on the lives of our student-athletes and the college in

general.”

Allison Manwell has been named Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations and will serve as the department’s NCAA-designated senior woman

administrator (SWA). Manwell joined the Wabash staff in May 2022. Her responsibilities include compliance, ticketing, and business operations, as well as

serving as staff advisor to the Wabash Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Manwell works closely with the Little Giants tennis, golf, and volleyball

programs.

Tori Gregory has earned the title of Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation after joining the staff in May 2022. Gregory’s duties include coordinating

recreational and IM programs and overseeing sport performance areas in athletic training and strength and conditioning. She also represents the athletics

department in campus wellness, health, and safety initiatives. Gregory works alongside the soccer, cross country, and swimming and diving programs.

Clark Tinder is promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Operations after joining the College in 2022. A 2020 Wabash graduate, Tinder earned a master’s

degree in sports administration from Ball State in 2022. His duties at Wabash include game day staffing and operations for home athletics events, and

scheduling and maintenance for all athletics facilities. Tinder works closely with the baseball program.

“These title changes recognize and best align the talents of coaches and staff with their superb work at Wabash, in pursuit of a common goal to educate and

guide the more than 400 scholar-athletes that participate in varsity athletics,” said Tanney. “As we prepare for a new academic year, we are well-positioned to

deliver on the many facets of a comprehensive and competitive Division III intercollegiate athletics and recreation program.”
