Theodore F. “Ted” Seward, 93, of Marshall, passed away July 1, 2024, at Ben Hur Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crawfordsville.

He was born May 25, 1931, in Tuscola Township in Douglas County, Illinois, the son of Furman G. Seward and Doris Lientz Seward. He married Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Clouse on May 25, 1958, in Parke County. She preceded him in death June 12, 2024.

Ted graduated from Tuscola High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Forward Observer with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Ted retired from RR Donnelley in Crawfordsville where he worked as a press operator for 32 years. He also farmed for several local farmers. He loved to whittle, garden, fish, hunt, and make maple syrup.

He is survived by sons, David B. Seward of Veedersburg and Daniel B. Seward (Kelli) of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Kendall Bruner (Tommy) of West Terre Haute, Josh Seward of Attica, Alex Seward (Ashlynn) of Rob Roy, Delanie Marshall (Seth) of Rockville, Dakota Seward (Emma) of Rob Roy, Dawson Seward of Marshall and Rheann Seward of Rob Roy; seven great-grandchildren, Caiden, Zayde, Beckett, Lakyn, C.J., Eli and Zeke; and several nieces and nephews.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; sisters, Ella Meadows, Darlene Cozad and an infant sister, Doris Seward; and brother, Lee Seward (Lucy).

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7 at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 E. High St., Rockville, with Pastor Doug Newnum officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. Cremation has been chosen with inurnment at Poplar Grove Cemetery east of Marshall.
