Rayna Ann Stevenson, 63, formerly of Veedersburg, recently a resident of Heritage Healthcare West Lafayette, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

Rayna was born Aug. 17, 1959, at Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond L. and Shirley Ann (Larsen) Thompson. She married Van Edward Stevenson on Nov. 14, 1981, at Georgetown, Illinois. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2021.

She is also preceded in death by brother Dale E. Thompson; nephew Dustin Thompson; and several aunts and uncles.

Surviving family include her parents, Raymond and Shirley Thompson, Georgetown, Illinois; daughter Rachel Ann (Quinn) Miller, Hillsboro; brother Brian L. Thompson, Attica; sister Janet Kay (George) Sprouls, Cayuga; two grandchildren, Tiffany Ruthann Miller and Eli Edward Miller; step-grandson Keagin Culley; several nieces and nephews; and a very close and dear friend, Linda May Hunter.

Rayna graduated from Georgetown High School in 1979. She has lived in the Covington and Veedersburg area since 1985. Earlier in her life she had been employed at Kroger’s in Crawfordsville, Pony Express Delivery Service in Indianapolis, and Open Door Christian Book Store in Danville, Illinois. Rayna had to retire early after becoming physically disabled with Multiple Sclerosis. 

Rayna was member of the Church of the Nazarene in Covington. She loved going to southern gospel music concerts. She had a special friendship with Pastor Steve Dailey and his wife of Mt. Calvary Evangelistic Center in Indianapolis. She loved telling everyone about Jesus and her faith. She was always positive.

Funeral service  will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with Pastor Tom Hunter officiating. Visitation begins at noon Friday and continues until the time of service. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Danville, Illinois.
