Phillip Emery White, 86, of Frenchburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, two years after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He had recently entered hospice at Fountain Circle Care Center where he received loving care.

Phil was born Sept. 11, 1937, in the small farming community of Ladoga, the second child of Floyd Emery and Ruby Evelyn White. The family, having moved to Dayton, Ohio during the war years, returned to Alamo where Phil attended Alamo High School.

He will be remembered as a very good athlete, especially a talented basketball player as well as a bright and kind student, well-liked by his classmates. Moreover, he was active in choir and school plays, marrying his high school sweetheart, Kathryn (Kay) Leonard, with whom he had four beautiful daughters.

In 1962 he moved to New Market while working for over 20 years for RR Donnelley & Sons in Crawfordsville. Thereafter, he worked as a custodian for the Crawfordsville school system.

An excellent carpenter, and a man for many seasons, he built a log home in Crawfordsville, raised sheep and boarded horses on their farm. He divorced and remarried in the 1990’s and moved to Frenchburg, Kentucky where he raised two more beautiful daughters.

Apart from his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter Jan Evelyn White, (Feb. 2, 1960-March 1, 1960, Yountville); step-father Carol Philpott; and sister Phyllis Evelyn.

He is survived by daughters, Kathryn Lynn (Geoffrey) Baker of Cleveland Hts., Ohio, Gail Lea (Donnie) Williams of Crawfordsville, Dawn Marie (Justin) Thain of Plains, Montana, Kayla (Gregory) Marcum of Frenchburg, Kentucky and Emily (Avery) Lomax of New Port Ritchie, Florida; brother Rick (Kris) White of Waveland; and grandchildren, Jordan (Lucia) Williams of Crawfordsville, Teegan Johnson and Rannen Johnson, both of Frenchburg, Kentucky, Ashton Beaudoin of New Port Richie, Florida, and Violet Thain of Plains, Montana.
