Martha A. Harris of Crawfordsville passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 30, 2019, at the Ben Hur Home. She was 81.

Mrs. Harris was a life-long member of First Assembly of God in Crawfordsville, where she was an active member, helping in the church kitchen. She worked her way up to manager at the Crawfordsville McDonald’s, where she served 15 years and then became manager of health and body aids at Walmart for 15 years. When she was younger, she would crochet, sew and quilt.

Born Sept. 24, 1937, at McCullough, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Clarence Lafayette Abney and Minnie Ivy Taylor Abney. She attended school in Arkansas.  She married Rolland E. Harris on May 29, 1959 in Lebanon. He passed away Sept. 17, 2002.

Surviving family includes: daughter Yuvonna Harris of New Ross; son Dru Harris of Los Angeles, California; brother Junior Abney; and three sisters, Joyce Abney, Narcie Lee Abney and Diane Miller.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and three sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 2 p.m., led by Pastor Christopher Cain. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
