Glenn A. Ashby, 89, of West Lafayette passed away at 5:03 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, in Franciscan Hospice House, Indianapolis.

He was born Dec. 2, 1933, at Columbus, Indiana, to the late Joseph E. and Florence Hogg Ashby. Glenn married Cindy Simmons on Sept. 10, 2001, in Tennessee. She survives.

Glenn graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, in June 1951. He was employed at Allison Division/GMC until March 16, 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 17, 1952, and received an honorable discharge March 17, 1960.

Glenn attended Purdue University on the GI Bill. He was employed by CTS Microelectronics until his retirement in 1985.

In retirement, Glenn enjoyed being a life member of the NRA and actively joined in competitive high-power rifle and pistol shooting. Glenn was active in many outdoor venues including running, rock and mountain climbing and was active in hiking and backpacking in the southwest.

Surviving, along with his wife Cindy, are son Tim Ashby of Molina, Florida; grandson Ian Ashby of Pensacola, Florida; daughter Amy Brinkley of West Lafayette; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph, Donald and David Ashby; and two sisters, Rose M. Ashby and Ellen Mae Pattison.

Visitation hours are noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Pastor Tim Lyons will officiate. Burial will follow in Dry Run Cemetery.
