Errol John McBride, 85, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.

He was born June 10, 1939, to John William and Lena Mae (Scherb) McBride at Clinton Hospital.

Errol’s father, John, passed away when Errol was three years old, and he was raised by his grandparents, Fred and Nellie McBride in Putnam County. He helped his grandparents on the farm. Growing up, Errol participated in 4-H, showing Tamworth hogs at the Putnam County Fair. He continued to support 4-H throughout his life.

Errol was a graduate of Bainbrige High School, Class of 1957, and attended college at Purdue University. He married Judy Kay Chavis on March 5, 1960, at Rockville. They met at the Parke County 4-H Fair. Errol worked at RR Donnelley for 22 years as a proofreader, retiring in 1982. After retirement, he turned his part-time job of farming into his full-time career, raising hogs, corn and soybeans.

Errol belongs to the Waynetown Christian Church. He proudly farmed with his Farmall tractors and enjoyed driving around his property in his Ranger. Errol attended antique tractor shows and had a collection of toy antique tractor replicas. He enjoyed watching college basketball, especially Purdue University and IU, and bird watching.

Errol will be deeply missed by wife Judy; children, William (Susan) McBride of Washington, D.C. and Carol (Jeff) Vice of Lafayette; grandson Curtis Vice; and sister Carole McBride of Loveland, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Errol’s name to Montgomery County 4-H Inc., 400 Parke Ave., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.

Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care Waynetown, 202 Bratton Road, on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held for Errol at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Parke County.

Skyler Andrew Williams

Skyler Andrew Williams, 21, of Granville, Illinois passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024. at O.S.F. Saint Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, 208 S. McCoy St., Granville. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at the funeral home prior to the service. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m.  Sunday, Aug. 18 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Granville Cemetery.

Skyler was born Oct. 25, 2002, at Rockford, Illinois, to Christina (Yocum) Croissant and Gary “Frankie” Williams II.

After graduating from Putnam County High School in 2020, Skyler became a dedicated construction worker with Judd Construction and everyone’s personal handyman. He lived to ride and drew a crowd wherever he went, if not from his skills, then from his humor. The constantly busy man was always pushing everyone around him to be better in every way, on and off bikes. He loved helping kids, like his close cousin Ethan, learn the right way to ride. It was impossible to have a bad time with him around.

He is survived by his Nana Gail Yocum and Papa David Yocum of Granville; mother Christina (Rich) Croissant; father Gary “Frankie” Williams II of Crawfordsville; step-brothers, Zach, Noah and Hunter; girlfriend Savanna Lasson; and brothers. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by brother Jarrod Williams; paternal great-grandparents David and Phyllis Meagher; and maternal great-grandparents Robert and Rita Yocum.

Pallbearers will be Alex Bohne, Zack Bohne, Ben Cyr, Brayden Holmes, Miles McCook, Nathaniel Mrowicki, Nolyn Thompson and Hunter Ziano.
