Members of the Crawfordsville Common Council took steps Monday to annex property on the city’s southwest side.

The council conducted a public hearing regarding a proposal to annex 47.403 acres of mostly wooded land located at 164 W. State Road 32.

Later in the meeting, the council unanimously approved a resolution outlining the fiscal plan for the annexation as well as the first reading of the ordinance to annex the property. Two additional readings of the ordinance are required.

The annexation is voluntary and was initiated by the landowner.

In other business, the council:

• Conducted public hearings for an ordinance re-establishing the Cumulative Capital Development Fund and for an ordinance re-establishing the Cumulative Fire Fund. Later in the meeting, the council approved both ordinances on second and third readings, thus adopting both measures.

Salaries are being adjusted for three employees at the General Lew Wallace Study. The changes have no impact on the overall budget. Two additional readings are needed prior to adoption.
