Betty L. Riddell, 86, of North Salem passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at St. Mary’s Health Care in Lafayette.

Betty was born Oct. 24, 1937, in North Salem, to the late Jessie V. and Elsie Gordon. On March 25, 1955, she married Darrell “Boss” Richard Riddell in North Salem. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1987.

Betty’s life revolved around caring for others. Her working career was spent as an aide at Ladoga Healthcare and other local nursing homes, where she was loved and appreciated by staff and patients, alike.

Motherhood and, especially, grand-motherhood, was Betty’s true joy in life. She has directly influenced four generations of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her wisdom, love, kindness and generosity will continue for generations to come.

Betty is survived by her children, Deborah (Greg) Swinney, Darrell Wayne (Becky) Riddell, Penny (Jeff) Stewart and Margaret (Mike) Weller; sisters, Margaret Blankenship and Joan Spielberger; grandchildren, Amanda (Joel) Stewart, Molly (Bobby) Wells, Sarah (Jeremy) Ragsdale, Andrew Harrison, Chantalle (Jared) Whiteman, Matt (Katie) Riddell, Nick (Amanda) Riddell, Ethan (Clarissa) Stewart, Payton Harrison and Tucker Riddell; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Stewart, Landin Moore, Logan Moore, Hayden Ragsdale, Gunner Ragsdale, Emma Wells, Callum Whiteman, Wren Whiteman and Stetson Riddell; and great-great-grandchildren, River Stewart and Ryder Barrett.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son Warren Riddell; son-in-law Jeff L. Stewart; sister Mary Jean Franklin; sister and brother-in-law Carrie (Lloyd) Warren; brother and sister-in-law Bob (Doris) Gordon; and brother-in-law Cecil Blankenship.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. June 27 at Barnard Cemetery, 7989 E. C.R. 1100N, Roachdale.
