A graduation ceremony took place Monday in the council chambers of the City Building for the 2024 Crawfordsville Fire Department Recruits. Remarks were given by Chief Scott Busenbark, Deputy Chief Paul Miller and Mayor Todd Barton. Captain Bryan Shaw presented certificates to the graduates. Family members or mentors then participated in a pinning ceremony with each graduate before they were sworn into duty. The graduates are, from left, Charles J. Sorenson, Evan M. Shipman, Hannah R. Nolan, Trevor J. McKinney, Abigia G. Jones, Jacob P. Finchum and Omar A. Bahlool.
CFD Conducts Graduation Ceremony
Employee-owners of Hoosier Heartland State Bank recently gathered at Veterans Memorial Park to present their most recent donation of $16,000. The contribution funded the two granite monuments that flank the 10-foot-tall bronze sculpture of a soldier at the front of the park bordering Washington Street. VMP is organized as a not-for-profit corporation. Its mission is “Honoring All Veterans.” Various parts of the park and its operation are available for sponsorship and underwriting, including purchasing bricks that will surround the center monument. Engraved bricks will recognize veterans and those who support veterans. More information is available on the park’s Facebook page — “Veterans Memorial Park – Crawfordsville.”
