CARA offers free welding course

Crawfordsville Adult Resource Academy is now offering a free American Welding Society welding certification.

The CARA course is designed to teach the most common gas metal arc welding processes. Students will be introduced to safety, measurement, metal inert gas machine operation and maintenance, metal properties and welding techniques. Students will gain basic knowledge and skills needed to earn the AWS 1G & 2G flat position certification. The course provides students with the foundational knowledge of the basics of welding.

Participants will learn reading and understanding blueprints; measuring and cutting materials; sourcing materials; and welding to join materials; and checking finished work to confirm that it is within the blueprinted tolerances.

Training is provided by certified and experienced instructors.

The value of this course is $1,950 and it’s now being offered for free. Course is limited to 15 students. In-person meetings will be May 20, 22, 23, 27, 29 and 30 and June 3-6 and June 10-13 at North Montgomery High School.
