Mounties lose to Lebanon
Southmont concluded its regular season Thursday with a 5-0 loss to Sagamore Conference foe Lebanon.
The Mounties’ No. 1 singles player Gavin Downey was defeated by Owen Bigler 1-6, 2-6 and the No. 2 singles player Caden Allen lost to Wesley Byrd 6-1, 6-0. South’s No. 3 Cory Colton was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Thomas Dehin.
Southmont’s No. 1 doubles team of Owen McCutchan and Dean McGaughey lost to Jack Ferrel and Ian Kincade 6-2, 6-1. The No. 2 doubles team of Eden Hernandez and Chazz Long was defeated by Devin Kincade and Parker Lawson.
Southmont finishes the regular season with a record of 6-12 and will participate in the Crawfordsville sectional beginning Tuesday.
North wins at Attica
North Montgomery concluded its regular season with a 5-0 victory over a shorthanded Attica on Thursday. The Red Ramblers only had four players available.
Chargers’ No. 1 singles Beckett Martin defeated Colten Ashley 6-4, 6-4. Dane Elliott defeated Attica’s No. 2 singles Blake Inman 6-0, 7-5.
North’s No. 1 doubles team of Austin Biddle and Carter Thompson won over Logan Sichts and Joe Shoaf.
North Montgomery finished the season with an 8-10 record including 3-4 in the Sagamore Athletic Conference. The Chargers will be participating in the Crawfordsville sectional which begins Tuesday.
Mustangs beat Tiger Cubs
Fountain Central traveled to Greencastle on Thursday and came home with a 5-0 win.
Mustang No. 1 singles Gabe McCollum defeated Jay Glotzbach 6-4, 6-4 and No. 2 singles Skyler Hoagland beat Glavin Tyson 6-2, 6-1. Fountain Central’s No. 3 singles Ayden Bratchelor defeated Griffin Beasely 6-0. 6-2.
In doubles actions the Mustangs’ No. 1 doubles of Levi McTagertt and Levi Miller defeated Mitch Staggers and Cayden Scott 6-1, 6-4. The No. 2 doubles team of William Armstrong and Jose Duarte Grajales beat Kyle Brentlinger and Keita Noro 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Fountain Central will host the Wabash River Conference Tournament on Saturday.
VOLLEYBALL
Athenians sweep Mustangs
Crawfordsville defeated Fountain Central on Thursday in a three-game sweep. Scores were 25-12, 25-11 and 25-13.
Reese Price had 12 kills and Ally Strickland had eight kills followed by Olivia Hedrick with six kills.
Caire Peacock recorded 26 assists. Peacock and Olivia Jett each had five aces.
Crawfordsville (14-7) will next play in the Clinton Prairie Invitational on Saturday.
Red Devils beat Chargers
North Montgomery lost to West Lafayette 3-0 on Thursday.
Scores were 25-12, 25-11 and 25-11.
North Montgomery is 8-13. Their game slated Monday with North Vermillion has been canceled and will not be made up.
Warriors beat Mounties
Southmont lost 3-0 to Danville on Wednesday. Game scores were 25-16, 25-18, 25-14.
Freshman Ella Barry had 10 kills
The Mounties (8-11) play South Vermillion today and will travel to South Putnam on Thursday.
SOCCER
The North Montgomery boys’ soccer team was defeated by Indiana Math and Science 5-3 on Thursday.
Braydon Osborne scored two goals and Sam Woolwine scored one goal.
The Chargers (1-12) play at Tindley on Monday.
