Patricia Lee Fitzwater, also known as Patty, passed away May 4, 2024, at Lafayette, surrounded by love. She was 70.
She was born Sept. 7, 1953, at Crawfordsville (Mace), to her mother Carol Francis and the late Arlie Fitzwater.
Patty worked as a cardiac monitor technician at Home Hospital in Lafayette. She attended Crawfordsville High School and later studied at Ivy Tech, where she excelled and maintained an above-average GPA.
She was a respected member of Second Baptist Church where she found solace, community and enjoyed ushering.
Mama Patty was a remarkable woman, full of beauty, intelligence and a caring nature. She had a passion for politics, sports and family. Her love and support were immeasurable, and her legacy of strength and love will continue to inspire others.
Patty is survived by her mother Carol Francis; sisters, Donna Myers, Arlene Edwards, Sandy Harshbarger, Kimberly Francis and Keri Francis; brother Billy Fitzwater; daughters, Shanele Jones and Jamese Watkins; granddaughters, Kelsey, Kamryn, Olivia/Zaia, Grace and Alexis; grandsons, Logan, London and Lamir; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by father Arlie Fitzwater; step-father Phillip Francis; and her beloved son, Terrence Fitzwater.
A memorial/prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17 at Second Baptist Church, 2925 S. 18th St., Lafayette. The service will be followed by a gathering at her daughter Shanele’s residence.
