Pike Place in downtown Crawfordsville will host the annual Oktoberfest 4-9 p.m. Saturday. Food, games, live music and dancing will be a big part of the festival.
The event will include the popular Stein Hoist, Brat Toss and a cornhole tournament.
The Stein Hoist has men, women and children categories. The children will hoist bottles of root beer.
Crawfordsville’s own and Season 7 American Idol top eight finalist Luke Menard will entertain attendees with a concert beginning at 7 p.m. Menard now lives in Branson, Missouri where he performs with the New South Quartet. Menard’s concert is being sponsored by Hoosier Heartland State Bank.
There will be a beer tent and food trucks.
Indiana’s largest chicken dance will be conducted and is a way to get audience participation.
Attendees can dress up in German garb and enter in the Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest competition if they so choose.
“Oktoberfest gets bigger each year and it has quickly become one of the most fun events we do,” Montgomery County Visitors Bureau Director Heather Shirk said. “We have a lot of fun and we anticipate a good crowd will be on hand to listen to Luke Menard.”
Registration for the cornhole tournament begins at 2 p.m. Those interested in participating can register on the Montgomery County Visitors Bureau website or at Pike Place on Saturday. Each player is guaranteed five games in the tournament.
A wide variety of food will be available. 1832 Brew will have brats, ruben sandwhiches, loaded fries and German potato salad. Francis and Mount will have chicken kabob, German potato salad, brisket, German macaroni and cheese, chips and German apple cobble.
Norvell’s will offer their usual barbque items. Smittys D’s Hotdogs and Ben’s Soft Pretzels also will be available.
Klooz Brewz Brewery from Lebanon will be on hand to supply seasonal beer, wine and cocktails.
The event is sponsored by Visit Montgomery County, Crawfordsville Main Street, Hoosier Heartland State Bank and Tri-County Bank & Trust.
