Annual Oktacofest and Bazaar slated for Saturday at St. Bernard

Posted

The annual Oktacofest and Bazaar at St. Bernard Catholic Church will take place 4-9 p.m. Saturday.

The family-friendly event at the church, 1306 E. Main St., will offer live music, a silent auction as well as tacos from Tacos El Pampano, brats, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese and a variety of refreshments.

The church has hosted an annual Bazaar since the Civil War. A few years ago, organizers chose a taco them for the event and it has been a big hit.

The event also offers free children’s games and activities, including a bounce house, pony rides, piñatas, and a mechanical bull.

Every year, the church has a raffle which benefits both the  parish and other Montgomery County charities. Raffle tickets are $25 each and come with a free meal ($10 value) along with the opportunity to win cash and other prizes. The top prize is $2,000 and is followed by a second prize of $1,000, a third prize of $500 and a fourth prize of $250.

There is no admission fee, but upon entry event-goers may purchase $1 food tickets. T-shirts and other items will be included in the silent auction. Homemade noodles and baked goods can be purchased from the Country Kitchen. Beer and wine also will be available for purchase.

Menu prices are: brats, $3; hot dog, $2; chicken and steak tacos, $3; macaroni and cheese, $2; beer and wine, $4; and water, tea or lemonade, $1.

All items may be paid for with cash or credit card.
