Former Crawfordsville resident and Motorsports Broadcaster Bob Jenkins was remembered with the unveiling of a historic marker honoring his memory at the Union County Courthouse in Liberty, Indiana, his hometown. Taking part in the tributes were retired Indianapolis Motor Speedway Public Address Associate Bill Durbin, Indiana Racing Memorial Association Co-Founder Mark Eutsler, former Motorsports Broadcaster Vince Welch, former IMS Radio Network “Voice of the 500” & ABC/ESPN Motorsports Anchor Paul Page, retired ESPN Motorsports Broadcaster Marty Reid, former IMS Radio Network Analyst and Reporter Dave Wilson, Motorsports Journalist & Broadcaster Dave Argabright, and IRMA Executive Team Member Bob Gates. Jenkins served as IMS Radio Network’s “Voice of the 500,” anchoring its 1,200 station coverage of the race to 100 million listeners. On Indy 500 Race Day, his voice could be heard anywhere on earth. He was also Motorsports Anchor for ABC Sports. He passed away in 2021. The marker, IRMA’s 56th since its founding in 2013, was sponsored by the Union County Development Corporation and is located on the southwest corner of the Union County Courthouse lawn, 26 W. Union St., in Liberty.
