The Sugar Creek Players announce the upcoming production of “The Wedding Singer” — a musical comedy that promises to be a spectacular hit.  The show will run from July 26-28 and Aug. 2-4, featuring Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday matinee performances.

Directed by Brian Swick, with musical direction by Jennie Swick and choreography by Megan Birk, this production will captivate audiences with its dynamic performances and lively music. The show is produced by Correna and Laurie Vellner, who are also part of the cast.

The Wedding Singer features an all-star lineup, including Sugar Creek Player veteran actors; Dustin Gardner, Eli Reeves, Peyton Suiter and Carrie Pool. Additionally, SCP welcomes Crawfordsville High School alumna Cimbria Bowling as the leading lady. Her presence on the stage is highly anticipated and adds a special magic to this vibrant production.

Set in 1985 and based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer tells the story of Robbie Hart, a charming and lovable wedding singer who falls in love with Julia Sullivan, a waitress. This romantic comedy, filled with catchy tunes and heartfelt moments, will transport audiences back to the 80s with its nostalgic flair and infectious energy.

“‘The Wedding Singer’ being set in the 80s offers a trip down memory lane with a hilarious and heartwarming story,” said Brian Swick. “Our cast brings talent and enthusiasm, ensuring every performance is electric.”

Swick added that supporting community theater like The Sugar Creek Players is essential because it nurtures local talent, brings people together, and enriches the community’s culture.

“Community theaters bring people from all walks of life together, building strong bonds and a sense of belonging,” he said. “The Sugar Creek Players offer affordable access to high-quality arts and entertainment, making it more accessible to everyone. By attending shows like ‘The Wedding Singer,’ you’re not only enjoying a dynamic and entertaining production but also helping to sustain the arts in our community for future generations.”
