Mellady earns promotion

Matthew W. Mellady recently assumed a new position at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Specifically, he was recently named the Deputy Director of the Public Safety Education and Training Center, which is responsible for providing training to Maryland’s Public Safety professionals. After working there for nearly 3 1/2 years as an Assistant Attorney General, Mellady was appointed to the new position at the end of June.

He began working for the State of Maryland in January 2020, following his December 2019 retirement after 25 years with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons.

He is a 1987 graduate of North Montgomery High School, a 1991 graduate of Wabash College and a 1994 graduate of Tulane Law School in New Orleans.
