Lebanon cruises to victory over North

Posted

After a thrilling win against county rivals Southmont last week, it was a long night for the North Montgomery Chargers (1-3) as they lost 42-0 to the Lebanon Tigers (2-2) on Friday.

The win for the Tigers brings their streak of wins against the Chargers to eight games. Friday’s contest was the first home game of the season for the Chargers.

The Tigers showed strength on both offense and defense as they controlled the game from start to finish. North Montgomery would show flashes at the start of the first quarter, coming out with a series of rushing plays, in favor of junior quarterback, Jack Warren. The Chargers would hold Lebanon to just 14 points in the first quarter and after that, the Tigers did not look back.

On the first drive, a pass from Warren was intercepted and gave Lebanon their first possession of the game. After a drive of five plays and 58 yards, Lebanon went on the board. After the first Tiger touchdown, the senior duo of quarterback Jackson Folden and wide receiver Kaden Lark connect on several throws in the second quarter leading to an impressive showing from Lark, who bolstered Lebanon’s offense.

North Montgomery would show signs of promise with Warren connecting with senior wide receiver, Kelby Harwood on several long throws, including a 46-yard pass, which would be ruled out due to a North Montgomery holding penalty.

Lebanon’s defense held the Chargers to just 61 yards total throughout the game, while the Tigers bolstered a dominating 358 yards of offense. Lebanon would close out the first half, up 35-0, putting the dagger with a late touchdown and two-point conversion in the half.

The Tigers would score just once, at the beginning of the third quarter, all while playing with a running clock and a rotated lineup, bringing the score to 42-0.

“We did not come out and play like we did last week,” North Montgomery head coach, Josh Thompson, said about his squad’s loss. “This is not indicative of North Montgomery football. That’s on me as a head coach. We will work with the guys this week. We will get better. I think we went in the wrong direction this week, but next week is a new week. They get one night to get over this, whether win or lose.”

Lebanon will host Frankfort next week while North Montgomery will travel to Western Boone for their fourth road game in just five games.
