Lineup changes expected for FC tennis

VEEDERSBURG — The Fountain Central boys’ tennis team graduated all four of their doubles players from last fall so there will need to be some lineup changes this season.

Creating doubles teams can sometimes be difficult as there is a need for chemistry between the two players if things are to work well, not just simply tennis abilities.

The challenge for the Mustangs is to fill those two positions without overly weakening their three singles spots.

Currently it looks as if Ayden Batchelor and Noah Armstrong who played singles last year may combine as one doubles team with Levi McTagertt and Levi Miller, who both played JV doubles last fall, being the second pair.

That leaves Skyler Hoagland and Gabe McCollum as singles players with one spot yet to be decided.

Should the doubles pairings not work out, Chris Webb, who is starting his 25th year as head coach, says he will change things up until he gets a lineup that works.

Webb says the team will not start the season on par with a couple of schools in the WRC, namely Parke Heritage and Seeger, but his lineup should become more competitive as the season progresses.

As always, the mantra for the team is improve every day and that is what Webb expects from all members on his squad regardless of their position or experience,].
