Join retired Wabash College Archivist Beth Swift at the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum as she paints the picture of life in pre-Civil War Crawfordsville with her talk The Athens of Indiana: The Pre-War Years.

Swift will focus on how the bustling boom town of the 1850s prepared for the war, including a dive into the Wabash College Cadets militia group that trained alongside Lew Wallace’s Montgomery Guards. Her discussion  is the fourth installment of the museum’s 2024 Dr. Howard Miller Lecture Series and will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Carriage House Interpretive Center.

Limited seats are available for this event, so make a reservation by contacting Museum Associate Director Thomas Meeks at 765-362-5769 or tmeeks@ben-hur.com.
