David L. Austin, 69, of Mellott passed away at 6:56 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, in Franciscan Health Hospital Lafayette East.
David was Nov. 24, 1954, at Crawfordsville, the son of the late Russell Ora and Faye Lorane Cox Austin. They preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Fountain Central High School and a member of Mellott Fire and Rescue for many years. David was employed by County Market in Crawfordsville as a stocker for over 25 years. He lived a simple life and kept to himself.
Surviving are niece Terri Rushing of Ft. Wayne; nephews, Tim (Rhonda) Strawser of Wallace, Chris (Diana) Austin of Hillsboro and Mark (Michele) Strawser of Mississippi; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Eugene; and sister Sue Harvey.
His family and friends held a private memorial gathering around the pond in his honor. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate assisted his family.
