Alfred John Rennison, 80, of Veedersburg passed away at 8:37 a.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024, at his residence with his family at his side.

John was born Sept. 23, 1943, at Rockland, Maine, the son of the late Alfred and Edna Alberta (Sprouls) Rennison. He married Beverly A. Abolt on Aug. 14, 1966, at the United Methodist Church in Stone Bluff, where they were members. She preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2013.

Surviving family include: daughter Amy J. (Bryan) Delp, Lawrenceburg; two grandsons, Christopher J. Delp and Henry L. Delp; sister Nancy Frey, Veedersburg; niece Lana Walton (fiancé Mike Clevenger) Veedersburg; nephew Ty Lightle, Lyford; and great-niece Kenli Walton.

John graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1961. He served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Washington and Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He was employed for 31 years as a bank teller at Veedersburg State Bank and CentreBank. He was a member of the F. & A.M. Lodge #491 in Veedersburg, and the Scottish Rite of Terre Haute.

John enjoyed collecting many things great and small; including watches and turquoise rings. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach. John loved people and enjoyed visiting with them at the local restaurants. He will be remembered as a very generous and kind person. More than anything he loved and enjoyed his family.

Services will be Friday, July 5 at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. A Masonic service will begin at 1:45 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Osborn Prairie Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288 and the USAF.
