Violet “Vicki” F. Newell, 90, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 14, 1934, at Mitchell, Indiana, to Charlie and Olive (Self) Reynolds. Vicki married William “Bill” Newell on Oct. 23, 1955, spending 50 loving years together until his passing in 2005.
Vicki was a graduate of Waveland High School, Class of 1952 and Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She worked for the FBI in Washington, DC for two years before moving back to Indiana to start her family. Vicki also worked for various local insurance companies throughout her career.
She was a great artist and enjoyed painting and writing poetry. Vicki was a loving homemaker and seamstress to her children and grandchildren. She was a member and elder of Grace & Mercy Ministries. Vicki was a devoted Christian and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years.
Vicki is survived by her four children, Eddie (Nancy) Newell, Judy (Lee) Taylor, Sherry Newell and Peggy (Nathan) Miller; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother Daryl “Joe” Reynolds of Lafayette; sister Carol Kauffman of Portland, Oregon; and several extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; grandson Nicholas Miller; and siblings, Faye Cope, Vera Reynolds, Bonnie Miller, Otto Reynolds, Ottis Reynolds and John Reynolds.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Grace & Mercy Food Pantry, 257 W. Oak Hill Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, July 6 at Grace & Mercy Ministries in Crawfordsville from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11:30 a.m.
Cremation was chosen with Sanders Funeral Care Crawfordsville entrusted with care.
