Upcoming Children’s cancer fundraiser expanded

Posted

An upcoming downtown children’s cancer fundraiser has grown beyond organizer expectations and received permission Wednesday from the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety y to expand one block.

Jessica Harris, who owns Shop Small Shop Handmade, is organizing Crushing Childhood Cancer to raise funds to support Riley Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. July 20.

The board previously approved closing the 100 block of North Green Street for the event.

Harris is now asking the city to close the 100 block of South Green Street.

“When I first started organizing this event, I had no idea how popular it would be,” Harris said. “I have had so many vendors ask to be a part of the event I need more space.”

The event will include a stage with live music, food trucks, beer garden, children’s carnival games and other vendors. The Leadsmen and Backroad Revival will provide live music.

More information about the event can be found on her Shop Small Shop Handmade Facebook page.
