North outscores Rossville

The North Montgomery girls’ soccer team outscored Rossville 4-2 on Thursday.

Scoring goals for the Chargers were Sophia Shea, Riley Robinson, Mady Holt and Ava Nunan.

Courtney Bennett and Hailey Kunz recorded assists.

“We were able to work on our possession and connecting passes,” North coach Julie Hodges said. “This is something we want to work on for the sectional, so it was great to see us take a step in the right direction for better possession.”

The Chargers will play in the West Lafayette sectional at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

 

North boys beat Delphi

The North Montgomery boys’ soccer team won at Delphi on Thursday by a score of 13-2. The Chargers scored seven goals in the first half and added six in the second half.

The Chargers finished the regular season 2-12.

North will play 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against West Lafayette in the West Lafayette sectional.

 

CHS drops match to Danville

Crawfordsville lost in a close match on Thursday against Danville in a Sagamore Athletic Conference game.

The Athenians (6-7-2, 4-2 SAC) will play 6 p.m. Monday against Benton Central in the West Lafayette sectional.

 

VOLLEYBALL

South defeats Wolves on senior night

Southmont defeated Parke Heritage in four sets on Thursday on senior night.

Scores were 20-25, 25-23, 26-24, 28-26.

Ella Barry lead the team in kills with 13. She also had four blocks and 19 digs.

Catie Himes had nine kills and one block and Mallory Mason added eight kills and 26 assists.

Jenna Grino lead the team with 23 digs. Himes had 18 digs, Kendall Priebe had 17 digs and Mason had 15 digs.

The Mounties celebrated seniors Mason, Grino and Himes as well managers Jayden Dagley and Mallory Leach.

“We are so proud of these seniors and their hard work,” Southmont coach Erin Barry said. “They are great role models for the younger girls and great athletes. We will miss them next year.”

The Mounties (11-11) are back in action Tuesday against at Seeger.

 

Athenians fall to Danville

The Crawfordsville volleyball team lost Thursday in three sets to Danville.

Scores were 12-25, 16-25, 19-25.

Reese Price led the Athenians with 11 kills, while Katy Grace Whitecotton and Ally Strickland each had four kills.

Claire Peacock had 18 assists and Ellie Walker had two aces. Price and Alexis Ratcliff each had eight digs.

The JV lost a hard fought three-set match, 16-20, 25-20, 8-15. 

Crawfordsville (15-10) will celebrate senior night when they host Clinton Prairie on Monday.

 

North loses to WeBo

North Montgomery lost at home to Western Boone in three sets Thursday.

Scores were 25-14, 25-9, 25-21.

Charger Hope Delp led her team with six kills followed by Piper Ramey who had five kills. Ramey also had 16 digs.

Blaire Nichols and Ramey each had two aces for the home team.

North Montgomery will play at Sheridan on Wednesday.

 

TENNIS

Wolves win sectional title

The Parke Heritage High School tennis team won the Fountain Central sectional championship on Thursday.

In the first round, the team defeated South Vermillion 5-0 on Wednesday. In the championship match, the Wolves defeated host Fountain Central 4-1.

The team will face Crawfordsville in the Lebanon regional on Tuesday. 

 

CROSS COUNTRY

Mustangs compete at Hanging Rock

Fountain Central boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed at Hanging Rock Christian Camp on Thursday against Seeger and South Newton.

In the girls’ race Mustang Raley Akers ran a 23:12 and Brailey Hoagland ran the course in 23:52.

The Fountain Central boys’ team saw Ayden Donaldson run in 20:19 which was a personal record. Ayden Donaldson led the Mustangs with a time of 20:10

Both Mustang teams will compete in the Wabash River Conference meet on Tuesday on Fountain Central’s home course.
