Top golfer returns for CHS

Crawfordsville girls’ golf will be young and inexperienced in 2024, but under first-year coach Erin Gilland, the Athenians will be able to rely on junior Madisyn Posthauer, who returns from a season ago.

“Madisyn returns to us with a lot of knowledge and experience,” Gilland said. “She has been a great leader and will be a key member of our team this year.”

As a new coach and with many new players, Gilland is excited for the new opportunity and wants the girls to put forth their best effort and carry a positive attitude throughout the season.

Freshman Isabella Jones brings experience to the team, while senior Alexis Shelton, sophomore Serenity Wright and senior Maddilyn Lewellyn are new to the game.

“I am excited to watch them throughout the season,” Gilland said. “I expect all of the girls to improve. We are a very young team, but all the girls have great attitudes and want to learn and do better. They ask questions and want to know what they can do to improve their game.”

The Athenians started the season last week. Key dates for this fall include the Sagamore Conference meet at the Crawfordsville Country Club on Sept. 14, and the Montgomery County meet at Rocky Ridge on Sept. 18.

“We want to improve as the season progresses and see our scores lowered each meet,” Gilland said. “I would love to see Madisyn advance to the regional.”
